Can you plasti dip brake calipers

Spraying them with high temp caliper paint is not difficult at all. What's next, plasti dip turbos!! Appreciate 0. Major General. Many people lease their cars so plastidipping is a prefectly reasonable alternative to painting when you have to have it back to stock in less than 3yrs. I'm not sure how calipers are any different than wheels in this respect. Because the brake system generates heat? I have little experience with plastidip but assumed it would manage the heat.

If not, I guess those people will find out the hard way. First Lieutenant. I've never used plastidip but i'd be pretty shocked it if it could hold up to long term caliper heat, not to mention the dust and grime that accumulates while driving. Brigadier General. I don't understand using Plastidip for calipers when G2 or Duplicolor Caliper paint has been proven to work. Last edited by audirings4; at PM. Originally Posted by audirings4.

Repost in a few months on how its looking. Jeffrey's exhaust tips were white and turned yellow with the heat; if this doesn't, I'm getting myself another can and dipping my calipers. The longer you keep the dip on there, the harder it will be to remove.

Once you drive a few times, that will never come off unless you go sandblast your calipers. Originally Posted by event. I didn't see this was just for winter but now that I do I understand the attempt. Originally Posted by KrunkMan. Just replaced them Off for painting. I am very curious w hot temp result Not in the slightest, but I didn't build my car for anyone but me.

I'll do some spirited braking tonight and try to warm up those big calipers. Will report to everyone and take some pics. Thanks guys.. My Photo Gallery: 5. As far as protecting the calipers from winter conditions I not sure why you need to do that. I would get that stuff off ASAP or it might become a huge mess. You drank too much of that krunk juice son! I hope you'll be able to peel it off after the winter. Salt and grime hasn't hurt the Brembo calipers on any of my vehicles so they don't need any protection.

Salt, grime, sand If you say so Is this real life? Come one guys I'm sure plastidip has a really super high melting point. OP this could be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Not joke. I'm not flaming. The disc is a couple of years old.

I had applied PlastiKote caliper paint when it was new, which eventually flaked off in some areas and there were visible rust spots. So, the PD was applied over PlastiKote.

The edge of the disc was pretty bad due to rusting and flaking of PlastiKote. I used a wire brush to remove rust before applying applying PD and scraped the edge of the disc to remove flaking rust and PlastiKote. I didn't go crazy with the wire brush to try to remove all rust--I just wanted to remove anything that could flake off after applying PD. However, I did a good job on the edge of the disc because this is where there tends to be a lot of rusting.

However, Plasti Dip is minimally resistant to brake cleaner. Today, I sprayed brake cleaner on Plasti Dip and while it didn't peel, I noticed it was getting soft. Once the brake cleaner dried, it looks like Plasti Dip stabilized. Attached is a photo of Plasti Dip'd disc after being sprayed with brake cleaner. Here is one more pic of Plasti Dip on the caliper and disc. Notice the hub has a bit of rust--this area was not sprayed with Plasti Dip.
