If you're playing on PC, though, you can go back to the Nordic paradise with a console cheat command. Another method is to install the free "Return to Sovngarde" mod, which also adds more content to the realm, including new creatures, buildings, crafting areas and skill trainers.

Type "coc" followed by the name of any location in Skyrim to exit Sovngarde. For example, if you want to exit to a city, type "coc Whiterun" or "coc Riverwood. Complete the main quest line in the game before installing the mod.
