The deal will allow Cisco to keep ownership of its on-island business in Nantucket, while CBA controls wholesale production out of the Cisco Brewers Portsmouth pub in New Hampshire, along with Cisco's distribution business.
Cisco's founders will sit on a CBA advisory board, and CBA will help Cisco innovate with new beers and scale production whenever the brewery has a product ready for the masses. Harman said that in addition to the upfront financial payment, Cisco has financial incentives to grow the 23,barrel operation in the future.
Harman said it was never the intention when the brewery was founded to go off-island and expand the brand. But the customer base had been incredibly supportive of distribution efforts in New England, and Harman said that CBA — as one of the largest breweries in the country — would have the resources to grow the brand even further.
